Pimple Treatment

ACNE – WHAT IS IT? HOW IS IT CAUSED & HOW TO BEST TREAT IT

What are the Types of Acne:

– Fungal Acne: Caused by yeast buildup in hair follicles, leading to inflammation and itching.
– Cystic Acne: Deep, pus-filled pimples that can cause scars.
– Hormonal Acne: Often affecting adults, hormonal imbalances lead to overproduction of oil, clogging pores.
– Nodular Acne: Painful lumps under the skin that cause surface bumps and discomfort.

Acne is a condition characterised by blockages and or an infection in the pilosebaceous unit the (hair follicle and sebaceous gland).

The most likely cause of an acne imbalanced skin is:

1. Quality of the Sebum becomes thick and gluggy texture and is likely causing a blockage when passing through the hair follicle once this passage becomes blocked it is very easy for infections to begin.

2.  Other causes of blockages may include excess corneocytes, comedogenic products or ingredients, make up, dirt and grime, genetics, stress or medications.

3.  Incorrect pH the skin’s pH should be between 4.5 and 6.5 when this is the case the skin is acidic, and this is the perfect environment for clear skin as all of the bacteria on the skin will exist in balance C acnes bacteria will not over proliferate in an acidic environment

What can we do or use to assist in its treatment?

  • EPA/DHA supplements are able to improve the quality of the sebum which will allow for it to be free flowing

  • Introduce a Pro Biotic

  • Unblock the follicle opening itself by method of exfoliation

  • Enzymes/Salicylic Acid. Try light peels and (remember to work progressively rather then aggressively)

  • Vitamin B3 -Helps stop any PIHP, supports healthy skin immune function, helps restore PH

  • Vitamin A- will help to treat acne by rebalancing the skin improving cell turnover, increasing the natural desquamation

ACNE CASE – WHAT TO DO

Client presents with active ACNE, blockages etc?

After any initial consultation we always advise the client to take the EFA’S  (we need to ensure we are dealing with a balanced healthy acid mantle).

We commence treatment of SQT Bio Micro needling, Followed by Blue Light Therapy (if it is active with inflammation) Remember everyone’s skin is different and as the skin therapist it is our job to determine the depth and strength you will work with when providing the SQT treatment in our professional opinion in acne cases it is best to start slow and use more of a pressing technique rather than micro circles but again you can adjust this according to your client and their needs.

It is best to perform these treatments close together for at least 3-4 treatments before spacing the sessions out longer, provided your client is on a good home care regime doing regular SQT treatments taking the correct internal supplements you should see amazing results very quickly.

  • Skin care

  • Cleanser with a low percentage of salicylic acid/or Gentle Cleanser

  • Daily Radiance vit c – it has the vitamin c and sunscreen and light moisturising

  • Zinc Sunscreen

  • Night time

  •  Clairty Peptides (niacinamide)

  •  Vitamin A

OPTIONALS BUT BENEFICIAL

  • Beauty Renewal (Pro Biotic)

  • Zinc supplement

  • Treatment protocol

  • Extract

  • SQT Bio Microneedling

  • Blue light therapy

  • Enzyme Peels if applicable

Our aim is to achieve a more balanced healthy skin.

A healthy PH and Acid mantle will make it less likely for bacteria to hang around and proliferate.  SQT resurfacing on its own will still be extremely beneficial to anyone with ACNE as it contains key ingredients to help stabilise the quality of the oil and the overproduction of oil, it also works by releasing growth factors that will help heal existing acne and scars.
